This was a relatively straight-forward project until I got
into it. There are nice 1941 and 1948 Ford wagon kits, so a conversion to a ’40
was going to be simple . However, the
rear fenders changed from ’40 to ’41, so I took the alternative, which was to convert a metal street-rod kit body
back to stock using more than 60 of the kit parts.
Things that worked – dry brushing the woodgrain and
scratchbuilt interior, crisp whitewalls against red paint. Things that didn’t
work – clunky headlights and, after hours of fitting, the hood is still a bit wobbly.
This one still needs some work.
